Two other Indian-American women in the Biden administration

President Joe Biden’s administration has had a heavy dose of people of Indian origin, starting with Vice President Kamala Harris. Now Radhika Fox and Meera Joshi, two other Indian-American women, have been nominated for important administrative positions by American President Joe Biden.

On April 14, 2021, Joe Biden announced his intention to nominate 10 members of his administration for key positions in agencies such as the Home Office, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Transportation, and Department of Energy. These include Meera Joshi and Radhika Fox, both Indian-American women named as Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Administrator in the Department of Transportation and Assistant Administrator for Water in the Environmental Protection Agency, respectively.

Biden also announced his intention to appoint Faisal Amin, who currently serves as assistant director of the administrative office, as chief financial officer of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Amin also served as Administrative Director and Associate Counsel for Tax Law in the Vice President’s Office, Chief Financial Officer of the Executive Office of the President, and Assistant Chief of Staff in the Office of the Vice President during the Obama Biden administration.

Other candidates include Tommy Beaudreaua’s Assistant Secretary of the Interior, Department of the Interior, Christopher Coesa’s Assistant Secretary for Transport Policy, Department of Transportation, Shannon Estenoza’s Assistant Secretary for Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Department of the Interior, Michal Freedhoff as Assistant Administrator for Chemical Safety and Environment, Environmental Protection Agency, Jill Hruby as Undersecretary of State for Nuclear Safety and Administrator of the National Administration for Nuclear Safety, Department of Energy, Winnie Stachelbergas Deputy Secretary for Policy, Management and Budget, Department of the Interior, Department of Environmental Protection, and Tanya Trujilloas Deputy Secretary for Water and Science, Department of the Interior.

Radhika Fox

Radhika Fox, a graduate of recognized universities like the University of California at Berkeley and Columbia and a popular advocate for water conservation, was the chief executive officer of the US Water Alliance, a nonprofit that previously advocated guidelines for building a sustainable water future on January 20, 2021 enter them into administration. She is currently working as a deputy administrative assistant for water.

With over 20 years of experience developing advocacy programs, guidelines and thematic campaigns; Fox served as Federal Policy Director at PolicyLink, a national research and action institute, where she worked on issues such as economic inclusion, human resource development and transportation. She has directed the government affairs agenda for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.

Meera Joshi

Meera Joshi, an attorney with more than 16 years of experience, was Inspector General of the New York Department of Justice responsible for investigating corruption and crime at all levels of New York City prison operations and first assistant executive director of New York City’s Civilian Complaint Review Board, the Conducts investigations into police misconduct.

She was chairman and CEO of America’s largest rental transportation regulator, the New York Taxi and Limousine Commission.

In her long career she was also General Manager of the New York office of Sam Schwartz Transportation Consultants and visiting scholar at the Rudin Center for Transportation Policy at New York University.

She also led landmark policies and even passed America’s first program to protect rental driver pay and help ensure wide access to rental transportation for passengers who use wheelchairs.
