A 59-mile electric vehicle rally, postponed due to Covid-19 fears, will now take place next month.
More than 65 participants were due to travel from London to Brighton in July, including stars like Fatboy Slim.
However, Big Lemon London’s first electric vehicle rally to Brighton had to be postponed due to the rising coronavirus infection rate in the city.
It will now take place on September 18th and feature several big names including TV presenter, travel writer and motorcycle enthusiast Charley Boorman and actor Robert Llewellyn.
65 different vehicles in 11 categories travel south from the banks of the Thames before ending on Brighton Beach. All vehicles will then be exhibited on Madeira Drive.
The event is designed to demonstrate and celebrate the rapid development of electric vehicles and renewable energy technologies, said event co-founder Tom Druitt.
He added, “We were devastated when we had to postpone the July event, but as a result, we can now look forward to a bigger and better event on September 18th.
“We will welcome over 65 different vehicles in 11 categories – from e-bikes to buses – and all vehicles will then be exhibited on Madeira Drive.
“The aim of the event is to demonstrate and celebrate the rapid development of electric vehicles and renewable energy technologies while having an entertaining day.
“We have some very interesting vehicles in our ‘Do it yourself’ category and then celebrate the awards for the most efficient vehicles in each class and also for the most innovative and sustainable designs with an award ceremony and after-party in the Grand Hotel.”
Spectators are invited to join the rally midway at Ifield Community College and at the finish line on Madeira Drive in Brighton.
Visitors have the opportunity to test one of the Big Lemon Electric buses, drive the Volksbahn, drive converted vintage cars and drive in a steam car from 1905 that has been converted to electric.
In the evening there will also be an award ceremony in the Grand Hotel.
