Are cults planning a comeback? Twitter says that.

In the past few years, things have definitely turned the weird in America. So much so that I’ve had many mornings waking up to the John Lennon song “Nobody Told Me” in my head.

“Strange days indeed. Very strange, mom, ”Lennon sang on his posthumous hit.

There was political unrest, ecological disaster, that weird monolith that popped up in the Utah desert, and super believable looking UFO videos.

Oh yeah, there’s this pandemic thing that’s still going on too.

The sheer absurdity of it all made comedian Caleb Hearon tweet on Wednesday, “I think cults are about to make a huge comeback,” and a lot of people agreed with him.

It is said that people often join sects to alleviate their fears and anxieties. If that’s the case, Hearon might be right. A recent study found that fear increased by 26% globally in 2021 due to the pandemic.

To make matters even more interesting, there are many who fear the end of the pandemic because they don’t want to return to normal.

Hearon’s tweet sparked a great discussion on Twitter about whether or not we are already in the middle of a cult renaissance.

Yes, but if the fashion is that good, let me know. I don’t do this prairie garbage garbage, even if it’s fashionable. I want this crazy, futuristic Zardoz to dance around a glowing ball and sing stuff.

Is the internet already a cult?

We have to bring back the old school cults. I’m trying to join a sex commune, not a Facebook group.

Is it already happening?

I definitely think the churches will, and yes, many will turn into sects. I see anti-cell phone communities becoming a big deal.

In fact, I went through the hiring at Tesla years ago when I was desperate for work and it was the most iconic shit I’ve ever seen in my life. I quit before I ever started working at the factory

It would be great if there was some kind of directory so we could all choose the one that was right for us.

What cults are we talking about?

Do you think old cults are making a comeback or are we talking about new players?

After reading the answers, it looks like Hearon wasn’t far from the truth. Many people raised their hands and said, “I’ll be there” after pondering the potential benefits of cultivating.

While others claimed that there are many cults going on right now, people just don’t know they are in them.

Steven Hassan, author of Combating Cult Mind Control: The Guide to Protection, Rescue and Recovery from Destructive Cults and no less than a former member of the Moonies, says that there are essentially four types of cults: behavior control, information control, mind control and emotional control.

He also says that almost everyone is prone to falling victim to a cult.

“If you think this could never happen to you, then you are most vulnerable. Because nobody is insensitive, ”he says.

If Hearon is right, some super iconic things may happen around us in the coming months. If you’re not into the cult lifestyle, your best bet is to keep your eyes peeled for suspicious groups congregating in unusual locations.
