British Gas has teamed up with auto insurer RAC to offer electric car leasing customers a new package of benefits, including the installation of a smart home EV charger and a customized 100 percent renewable electricity tariff for battery drivers, the two companies announced today known.
As part of the partnership, customers using RAC’s recently launched EV leasing service will have the option of having a UK gas engineer install a smart home charging station, in addition to a house energy tariff, which is the cheaper tariff for charging Off-peak EVs offers overnight offering, they said.

The RAC-e Recharge Electric Car Tariff, meanwhile, offers overnight charging at 6p per kilowatt-hour between noon and 5am, which companies estimate could save up to £ 300 on home electricity bills each year when used with the Hive app.
Customers will need to install a British Gas smart meter to ensure their electricity usage can be accurately tracked in order to take advantage of the tariff offer, the companies said.
