Thanks to soaring gas prices, you’re probably itching for a more fuel-efficient car. Here are the top five hybrid vehicles according to TrueCar.
1. Hyundai Tucson Hybrid

Boasting an EPA-estimated 38 mpg on city and highway roads, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is the most well-rounded choice on TrueCar’s list. This compact crossover’s surprisingly affordable price of $26,195 includes a big infotainment screen, a plush interior, and a turbocharged powertrain. Providing a 10-year standard hybrid warranty, the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid offers excellent value.
It’s available as a regular hybrid or PHEV, the latter providing 33 miles of electric range. Though every Tucson Hybrid comes with standard all-wheel drive, it lacks a dedicated off-roading trim. TrueCar’s reviewers also wish this SUV had a higher towing capacity, but 2,000 pounds is decent for most drivers.
2.Toyota Sienna
Starting at $35,925, this seven-seat minivan can get 36 mpg during city and highway driving. In addition to being the most fuel-efficient model in its segment, the Toyota Sienna boasts an interior luxurious enough to be confused for a sedan, TrueCar says. And families looking for adventure will appreciate the Woodlands trim, complete with better ground clearance and standard roof racks.
Despite its family-cruiser appeal, the Toyota Sienna still has some minor flaws. With only 245 hp, it provides meager passing power, though it still handles like a much smaller car. Also, the second row can’t be folded down or removed, limiting its maximum cargo capacity.
3.Hyundai Elantra Hybrid
The Hyundai Elantra Hybrid is another affordable pick, starting at around $21,000 and delivering up to 50 mpg combined city/highway. Despite its compact sedan dimensions, both rows provide plenty of room, and the interior abounds with excellent features.
Still, the Elantra Hybrid lacks a Wi-Fi hotspot, and all of the plastic interior surfaces reflect the car’s bargain price. It also doesn’t offer an optional hatchback body style like some rivals. The trunk has 14 cubic feet of space, but the opening is too small to load bulkier items easily.
