Depending on who you ask, Jaguar’s performance cars are more like grand tourers than ‘true’ sports cars. Yet while the 2022 Jaguar F-Type can certainly handle GT duty, it’s also a genuine sports car when the mood strikes. But if you can’t afford a brand-new F-Type, don’t worry because used ones are more budget-friendly. And luckily for interested buyers, there’s a 2014 Jaguar V-Type V8 S Convertible listed this week on Bring a Trailer.

The 2014 Jaguar F-Type V8 S delivers supercharged sonorous speed

Although it effectively replaced the XK in Jaguar’s lineup, the F-Type is more of a spiritual successor than a direct one. While the XK was a sporty GT, the F-Type is an outright sports car. Essentially, while the former is an Aston Martin DB9 competitor, the latter is a Porsche 911 rival. And before the R trim replaced it, the fastest, sportiest version was the 2014 Jaguar F-Type V8 S.

Like the XKR before it, the 2014 Jaguar F-Type V8 S packs a supercharged 5.0-liter V8. However, while it’s less powerful, the F-Type V8 S is significantly lighter and has two more gears. As a result, it goes 0-60 mph 0.4 seconds faster, Car and Driver reports. And because it’s smaller than the XKR, it handles better, too. But on the downside, the F-Type only has two seats, while the 911 and XK have at least semi-usable rear seats.

That drawback stops being a concern once you step on the gas, though. The 2014 Jaguar F-Type V8 S has a standard active exhaust, and it makes that supercharged engine roar. Well, ‘roar’ might be the wrong word. To paraphrase Car and Driver, the exhaust note sounds like an orchestra filled with chainsaws, hand grenades, firearms, and fireworks. It’s crackly, zingy, loud, and glorious. There is a more subdued mode, but ‘subtly’ isn’t really in the F-Type’s wheelhouse.

Luxury, though, is. The 2014 Jaguar F-Type V8 S’ leather sports seats are supportive and decently comfortable, and standard adaptive shocks take the sting out of bad roads. This sports car’s ride is still on the stiff side, Car and Driver notes, but not overly so. And while the later R models became AWD-only, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential keeps the RWD V8 S’ power in check. Plus, with a good set of winter tires and its winter driving mode, the F-Type is a surprisingly-capable snow car.

Although the 2014 Jaguar F-Type V8 S Convertible currently listed on Bring a Trailer spent time in Michigan and Pennsylvania, it likely hasn’t seen too much snow. I say that for two reasons. One, it was always stored in a climate-controlled garage, and two, it has less than 6500 miles on the clock. And apart from some clear paint protection film, it’s stock—and well-equipped.

In addition to the features mentioned earlier, this 2014 Jaguar F-Type V8 S has a heated steering wheel, adjustable rear spoiler, wind deflector, roll hoops, and heated seats. Also, it has a Meridian audio system, rearview camera, front parking sensors, two-tone leather upholstery, and a center touchscreen.

Because this convertible has so few miles, it doesn’t have the longest service record. However, it does have a clean, zero-accident history. Furthermore, the selling dealer replaced the oil and tires in preparation for the sale. They also recalibrated the ABS system, replaced the brake switch, and performed a general inspection.
